Dr. James Brewer moved back to Des Moines in August of 2005, to serve as the Senior Pastor of Heartland Church, after eight years as Senior Pastor of Waverly Open Bible Church in Waverly, Iowa. He and his lovely wife, Sharon, have two children, Kevin (in college) and Natalie (junior high).

Jim’s energetic preaching style is very practical and connects to daily living. Inviting, humorous (he likes to laugh), and insightful are what you will find in the teaching at Heartland Church. “We want to teach where people live,” says Jim of his desire to share timeless truth about that works in today’s reality.

Jim received his B.A. at Southern California College; His M.A. at The Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield Missouri; His D.Min. at Trinity Theological Seminary in Newburgh Indiana.
Besides hanging with the family, Jim enjoys golfing (hacking) and hunting with their dog Emma-Jane.
